Econonomic History alumna Miatta Fahnbulleh is Energy Secretary

Miatta Fahnbulleh, an alum of the Department of Economic History, LSE, has been Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero.

She was elected as the MP for Peckham in July 2024. Previous appointments include Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.

Miatta studied PPE at the University of Oxford and joined the department for her PhD degree, completing her thesis on economic development in post-colonial Africa.
