The 'African Metropolitan Report', a new analysis of African metropolitan indicators compiled by LSE Cities, has been released by Metropolis.
The report used data from the recent Metropolitan Indicators Database launched by Metropolis and researched by LSE Cities.
The database includes 2,789 data points about 58 metropolitan territories worldwide around themes such as governance, social cohesion, of which 17 are located in Africa.
The database aimed to develop a system of comparative indicators across a range of major cities and metropolitan areas. The 'African Metropolitan Report' is the first of a series that reviews these indicators in regional contexts, in part because of its status as "one of the fastest urbanising regions" in the world, the report states.
