Bio
Lorenzo Pirozzi received a bachelor’s degree in development studies from the University of Bologna (2022) and a master's degree in Economic Sociology from the London School of Economics (2023).
His research examines how nature and biodiversity are translated into economic and financial risks. He studies how market-led standardisation initiatives — such as the Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) — attempt to measure a phenomenon as complex as biodiversity.
With a theoretical focus on the politics and materiality of quantification and calculation, he analyses how these initiatives produce indicators and targets that organisations and financial markets can understand and manage. He investigates this transformation and its implications through qualitative methods, including interviews, document analysis, and observation.
