Dr Myria Georgiou, Media & Communications

Myria led on a report titled Community through Digital Connectivity? Communication Infrastructure in Multicultural London. It examined the possibilities and challenges the mediated city presents to Londoners to communicate across cultural difference.

A study of London was also undertaken and it examines the ways in which media and the city depend on each other for their reputation and also for establishing the meanings of ‘the global city’

Myria’s new project, funded by IGA/Rockefeller Foundation, started in December 2017, and examines the city of refuge as a site where refugees, migrants and established populations come together and build resilience. London is one of the main sites of this study (alongside Berlin, Athens, LA and Hong Kong).
