CEU Summer University applications open, tuition waiver for CIVICA students
Currently enrolled students of CIVICA partners are eligible for a tuition waiver, if admitted. CEU Summer University offers research- and policy-oriented interdisciplinary courses in June-July 2021 in Budapest. Safeguarding academic freedom in Europe

The Presidents of CIVICA's member institutions jointly welcome the European Court of Justice ruling that “Lex CEU,” a 2017 Hungarian law aiming to restrict the activities of foreign universities and specifically targeting Central European University (CEU), is incompatible with EU law. They also call on all relevant EU bodies to continue to strengthen the legal and cultural conditions for higher education and research institutions. Read their full statement

Research funding received from Horizon 2020

We've received funding from the EU’s programme Horizon 2020, under the chapter “Science with and for Society.” The activities funded under this call aim to establish “CIVICA Research,” a joint long-term research and innovation environment. Read more
Our mission
Together, CIVICA members build on an ever-stronger combination of teaching, research and innovation to mobilise and share knowledge as a public good and to facilitate civic responsibility in Europe and beyond.
Our activities are focused on four key topics:
- Societies in Transition and Crises of Earth
- Challenges to Democracy in the 21st Century
- Europe Revisited
- Data Driven Technologies for the Social Science.
Our members
CIVICA was selected in 2019 by the European Commission as one of the pilot European Universities, funded under the Erasmus+ program. LSE became full members of CIVICA in June 2020.
