Marie Oldfield (CStat, CSci, FIScT) is the Senior Lecturer in Practice for MA425 Project in Operations Research & Analytics. Marie is Director of Oldfield Consultancy and Kuinua Coaching. She consults in industry liaison for the University of Portsmouth and supervises MSc OR and Mathematics Project students at the University of Southampton.
Marie is a Fellow and Executive Board Member at the Institute of Science and Technology (IST), an Expert Fellow for Sprite+ and a member of the College of Peer Reviewers for Rephrain. Marie is Founder of the IST Artificial Intelligence Group, Founder of the IST Women in Tech group and a Professional Chartership Assessor for the Science Council. Marie hosts two podcasts, the first on AI & Technology and the second on Mindset & Leadership.
Marie is a leader in her field and trusted advisor to UK Government, Ministry of Defence, Media, the Legal sector and the Health sector. Marie works at the forefront of Ethical AI, driving improvement and development. Marie's current publications explore the interface between humans and rapidly developing technology.
Marie is passionate about giving back to the global community through extensive pro bono work, with a focus on education, poverty, children and mental health. For several years Marie led the division of Global Consultants for pro bono work for the American Statistical Society where Marie was honoured to have worked alongside the UN, Doctors without Borders and MapAction, specifically during the Ebola Crisis and Nepal Earthquake. Marie is extremely proud to be able to improve the life chances of the poorest and most vulnerable across the globe working with, amongst others, the UN, the ASA, the Institute of Science and Technology, Pro Bono Economics, and the Science Council.
