As the cornerstone of data science activity at LSE, the Data Science Institute (DSI) offers opportunities to LSE students with an interest in pursuing careers in data, data science and technology.

These opportunities include visits to businesses and industry leaders, which provide current students with advice and insights from those that have made the transition into industry. An in-person experience is invaluable for students as it enables them to picture different potential careers that their degree could lead into.

On Wednesday 8 June 2022 Google's Ties Boukema generously hosted one of these visits, with a group of around 20 LSE students visiting Google CSG Campus.

Reflecting on the visit, Ties commented: "We enjoyed hosting a group of LSE students for a visit at our Google offices. It was great to meet such an engaged and curious group of students, who will undoubtedly have a bright future in data or tech. We're looking forward to our continued collaboration with LSE's Data Science Institute to help shape the next generation of data-driven leaders."

Following a tour and a networking lunch, students took part in an open discussion about data science and analytics at Google. During this session they were able to gain technical and careers insights from Ties and his Google colleagues Aleksandra Tsvetkova and Keerthana Chandrakumaran.

The DSI would like to thank Google colleagues for agreeing to host this visit.
