LSE Southeast Asia and ASEASUK Postgraduate Workshop

The LSE Saw Swee Hock Southeast Asia Centre (SEAC) and the Association of Southeast Asian Studies in the United Kingdom (ASEASUK) are delighted to announce an open call for papers for their first Postgraduate Workshop, which will be held on Friday, 15th May 2015 at the London School of Economics.

This workshop is open to PhD students, advanced MSc students and early career researchers from all fields of the social sciences, arts and humanities.

We are particularly interested in research on the growing presence of Southeast Asia in world affairs, the internal diversity of Southeast Asian states, historical legacies, future possibilities for growth, Britain’s past colonial relations with the region, Britain’s current economic and political interests, and Southeast Asian diasporas.

The workshop papers will be competitively selected for presentation to a cross-disciplinary audience in four panels. There will also be a PhD ‘methodology café’ where students can discuss their own research with academics from different disciplines and explore different methodological approaches.
