About me

Francesco Gualdi is an LSE Fellow in the Information Systems and Innovation Faculty Group, in the Department of Management. He is currently completing his PhD at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. Both the PhD dissertation and the works he is working on, position his research interests in the field of Information Communication Technology (ICT) and its adoption within organizations. In particular, the core subject of his work focuses on the complex process of negotiation that involves ICT infrastructures enacted in e-government policies.

Building on a consolidate stream of literature in the Information System area, his interest turns on the impact that ICTs produce in the contexts where they are enacted. Following the most recent trends of research, he concentrates on the specific contribution ICTs carry to the creation of public value, by looking at economic, social and environmental effects generated by technology-based measures.

In addition, his work experience contributed to enrich the awareness of complex arrangements that take place when elements of technology, policymaking and management are combined. Francesco served as strategic advisor within the Italian Government, at the Department of European Affairs. In that context, he was involved in the decision-making process on European issues. He had the chance to assist to the definition of the most challenging policies at EU level, such as refugees management, Digital Single Market, and European Institutions reform.

Francesco Gualdi’s teaching record has been equally influenced by the variety of environments where he had the opportunity to study, work and do research. In 2014 he was asked to teach “International Journalism and Media” to graduate students classes at University of Rome “La Sapienza”. In 2019, he taught as class teacher the MG250 “Management and Economics of E-Business” course at LSE 2019 Summer School. He is reviewer for Government Information Quarterly.

Before joining the PhD program, Francesco Gualdi obtained a MA in International Public Affairs at LUISS “Guido Carli” in Rome, and an MSc and a BA cum laude in International Relations at Bologna University.
