LSE Law is one of the world's elite law schools. Many of the academics who teach on the LLM have globally leading reputations. LSE Law is one of LSE's largest and most pre-eminent departments with over 60 academic members of staff. It enjoys a uniquely international academic community with staff and students from all over the world.
LSE Law is well known both for its interdisciplinary approaches to legal scholarship and its contextual approach to legal study and teaching. Academics at LSE believe that to understand the law, its function, and effects, it is essential to place it within the political, social and economic context within which it is formed and operates.
The identity of LSE Law is inextricably linked to its geographical location in the heart of UK legal life. Our campus is adjacent to the Royal Court of Justice and Lincoln's Inn, one of the four Inns of Court of which all barrister must be members. It is a short walk away from the Houses of Parliament, the offices of the largest global law firms, and regulatory bodies such as the Takeover Panel and the Financial Reporting Council.
With a graduate degree from LSE, you will be in an excellent position to pursue your career goals and LSE will help you actively to realise your aspirations. At LSE Law, we host regular talks by partners of leading International and European law firms who will present their practice and provide insights into some of the high profile cases they have been working on. These events are often followed by a drinks reception where you will have the opportunity to meet members of the law firm and discuss what working for the firm involves in an informal atmosphere.
LSE also has a Careers Service to facilitate your transition from education to employment and give you guidance on employment opportunities and the skills needed to succeed in the marketplace. Careers consultants will be at hand for one-to-one meetings in the Law Department to provide help in developing your CV and cover letter. In addition, LSE Careers Service runs regular careers fairs, seminars, conferences and presentations.
