Join former classmates to celebrate five year since you graduated from LSE, whilst reminiscing about your times at the School at this stylish East London venue. The reunion will be a great opportunity to reconnect with old friends, expand your professional network and get to know the LSE alumni community.

Join fellow class of 2006 alumni for a special reunion lecture and dinner.

LSE100 Discussion - "Addressing Poverty and Inequalities", lead by Professor Mary S Morgan, lSE Institute of Public Affairs and Department of Economic History. The discussion will take place in the Wolfson Theatre (New Academic Building).
After the panel discussion we invite you to join us for dinner and drinks in the Senior Common Room (Old Building).

Join fellow class of 1976 alumni for a special reunion lunch and lecture in the Shaw Library.

Celebrating graduating classes of: 1955, 1960, 1965, 1970, 1975, 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005 and 2010            

Registration is now open for the LSE Alumni Reunion Weekend on 10-11 July 2015!            

There will be a variety of events during the weekend from tours of the School to academic lectures and our celebratory Gala Dinner at the House of Commons. To view the full programme, book your place or read more about the School's history, please click on the tabs to your left.            

LSE will also be celebrating it's 120th anniversary as a world class social sciences institution. There will be a number of planned events throughout the year to mark this occasion, including the Director’s 120th Summer Reception during the reunion.

As part of the School’s LSE Alumni Reunion Weekend on Friday 11 – Saturday 12 July, the Department of Economics has arranged an afternoon of activities for its returning alumni and their guests on Friday 11 July.            

These include:            

• A small exhibition on the history of Economics at LSE from its foundation in 1895 to the establishment of the Department of Economics as an academic department in the early 1960s.     

• Guided tours of our new home, 32 Lincoln’s Inn Fields.              

• Briefings by Economics faculty on teaching and research within the Department.       

Afternoon tea, served in the oak-panelled room overlooking Lincoln’s Inn Fields, from 15:30.

We will also be inviting alumni to share their memories of their time with us, as part of the LSE’s History Timeline project.

Briefings by Economics faculty

Teaching Briefing - Professor Gilat Levy

Gilat Levy attained her PhD at Princeton University in 1999, and has been a faculty member of the Department of Economics at LSE ever since.                  

Professor Levy’s research focuses on game theoretical models of political processes, group-decision making, and religious organizations. She has published papers in the American Economic Review, Econometrica, and the Quarterly Journal of Economics among others.                  

Professor Levy is currently the Deputy Head of Department for Teaching, and the Chair of its Teaching Committee.

Research Briefing - Dr Ethan Ilzetzki

Ethan Ilzetzki is a Lecturer at the Department of Economics, and an Associate at both the Centre for Economic Performance and the Centre for Macroeconomics at the LSE. He is also an affiliate of the CEPR. His research focuses on Macroeconomics, Fiscal Policy, and Political Economy.                  

Ethan holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the Technion: Israel Institute of Technology, an MA in International Economics from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies, and a PhD in Economics from the University of Maryland. He has held policy and research positions at the International Monetary Fund, the U.S. Department of Treasury, and the Millennium Challenge Corporation.

Economics Alumni Network

The aim of the Network is to create opportunities for MSc alumni to meet, hear interesting speakers and stay in touch with the Department and the School. The Network is part of a broader Economics Department Initiative geared to raising funds for PhD scholarships and salaries at a level that will allow LSE to contend for academic talent with the top US departments.

Once a year the Department hosts an ‘Internship and Networking Evening' for our current MSc Students to meet prospective intern employees, and for our alumni to gather and network. This is an informal opportunity to meet others in similar fields with similar interests and is always a great success.

Economics MSc alumni are invited to take part in this newly established Economics Alumni Network, which has over 250 members already.

Economics Department Initiative

As a flagship department of the LSE, the Department of Economics is the top ranked economics department in Europe and among the top 15 departments worldwide. The foundation of a world-renowned department rests upon a combination of outstanding faculty and top-flight PhD students who wish to work with and learn from leading scholars in their fields. This Economics initiative is aimed at helping us to compete with leading US departments in order to secure our place on the world stage.

The recruitment and retention of top quality economists is essential to diminishing the gap between LSE and the leading US departments. We are grateful to those who have already contributed to the Economics Initiative. Launch of the Economics Alumni Network & Economics Department Initiative

Professor Partha Dasgupta, BP Visiting Professor, launched this new development in May 2004 with a lecture for Economics MSc alumni on Economic Performance and the Idea of Social Capital.
