In this session, you'll have the chance to meet alumni who have graduated within the last five years and find out how the General Course helped them get started with and develop their careers. The panellists come from a variety of sectors and industries and represent the diverse backgrounds and career destinations of General Course students. You can ask the alumni about their day-to-day job, how they got started, and for any other career-related advice or tips they’ve picked up from their journey so far.

This event will be particularly useful if you are:

  • thinking about the realities of a career in one of these areas or a related sector
  • looking for advice on internships, further study or getting started with your career
  • curious about the sort of work and responsibilities jobs in these industries can entail
  • interested in finding out how utilising the experience of studying at LSE can be used to get ahead in this area
  • keen to build your connections

Meet the Speakers:

Bianca (LinkedIn) joined the General Course in 2021 from Sciences Po, where she graduated with a BA in Social Sciences, majoring in Economics, and minoring in International Relations. After completing her undergraduate degree, she stayed in London to pursue the MSc Climate Change, Management and Finance at Imperial College. As part of her MSc degree, she interned at EY’s climate change and sustainability consulting section, and she is now working at the Global Maritime Forum as a Decarbonisation Project Coordinator. She works on projects to drive global action for the shipping industry to decarbonise and has just returned to London after spending the last six months in Singapore. Outside work, she is involved in several international climate action initiatives.

Luiza (LinkedIn) attended the General Course in 2019-20 in the Department of Economic History, which means she caught the very beginning of the pandemic whilst in the UK and had to finish the program online from her home-country of Brazil. After finishing her studies at Wellesley College with a BA in Economics in 2021, she decided she was not quite done with London yet and returned to do a MSc in Strategic Marketing at Imperial Business School in 2021-22. She is still living in London and now works in Digital Marketing for Bally’s Interactive, an American iGaming company.

Elizabeth (LinkedIn) attended the General Course in 2018-19. After graduating from the American University with a degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing and Information Technology, Elizabeth returned to the LSE to pursue a Masters in Managing Information Systems and Digital Innovation (class of 2021). Following her graduation, she joined Threecolts, which at the time was an early-stage SaaS startup in the e-commerce space. After working at Threecolts for 2 years as a Product Manager, Elizabeth moved back to the US and joined Datavant, where she is helping achieve an ambitious mission of connecting the world’s health data.
