Fudan University

Students are required to take 6-15 credits for one semester (2-8 courses) (10 credits per semester on average). There are 18 weeks per semester (16 teaching weeks and 2 exam weeks).

The GO LSE team is not legally permitted to give you advice on obtaining a visa to enter China. You will be responsible for making your own arrangements and we recommend starting the process at the earliest opportunity.

Exchange students are required to obtain a Chinese Student X1 visa for two-semester exchange. Students should refer to the visa requirements on their local consulates' websites.

Students must complete a physical examination after enrolment at Fudan University if they stay in the mainland of China for more than 180 days. Physical examination costs around RMB660 yuan and Resident Permit costs around RMB400 yuan.

Physical examination after enrolment at Fudan University is recommended because the verification of home physical examinations records will likely fail due to a different physical examination system.

LSE strongly advises that you do not book non-refundable flights or make binding accommodation arrangements until you have obtained your visa.

University-Administered and On-Campus Accommodation is available to international students. However, students of Chinese nationality cannot apply for this accommodation. Housing fee and utilities will be calculated seperately.

Accommodation is not guaranteed. Exchange students need to apply online and due to limited available spots, only a few students will be able to reserve a spot during the dormitory online reservation period.

Instructions for reserving accommodation will be sent to nominated students.

Insurance is compulsory for all incoming students. Further details will be provided directly in guidelines to students. The purchase of medical insurance or accidental insurance as a supplement to Compulsory Medical Insurance is recommended.

LSE Notification of Travel:

All students undertaking travel as part of their studies must complete the Travel Notification Form. You will need to have confirmed your proposed departure and return date before completing the form (these can be amended later).

After you have submitted the form, it will be reviewed by LSE's Health and Safety team. Once approved, you will receive confirmation via email.

LSE Travel Insurance:

By completing the mandatory Travel Notification Form, you will automatically be covered under LSE's Travel Insurance policy.

• The insurance will cover you for losses sustained during your period of cover, including against lost, stolen, and accidentally damaged property.
• It will also cover you for medical emergencies. However, please note that this is not comprehensive medical cover.
• The insurance will not cover travel that is taken outside the scope of your exchange programme. For instance, if you choose to travel outside of California on holiday.

It is recommended that students arrive three days before the first day of the Semester.

Week 0 of the Semester is the Orientation and Registration week, and teaching takes place from Week 1.
