GO LSE Short-Term Study

GO LSE Short‑Term Study offers LSE students the chance to take part in high‑quality academic and cultural programmes abroad during the summer. These short‑term opportunities provide a flexible way to gain global experience, develop academic interests, and enhance employability through meaningful international engagement.

 

Who can apply?

  • Current LSE Year 1 and Year 2 undergraduate students are eligible to apply
  • Students must meet the academic and eligibility requirements set out in the application form (please see below).

Funding and scholarship opportunities

GO LSE Short‑Term Study programmes are supported through the Hermes Li Global Initiative, with partial funding available to help reduce financial barriers.

Grants of £500 or £850 are available, depending on eligibility and financial circumstances

  • Funding aims to make a meaningful contribution towards participation costs
  • Funding is competitive and not guaranteed

Funding can contribute towards:

  • Programme tuition fees
  • Travel costs
  • Accommodation
  • Visa or immigration fees (if applicable)

For Summer 2026, funded places are available at two leading European partner institutions:

Warsaw School of Economics (SGH), Poland - Summer University Warsaw

This intensive summer programme offers a practical introduction to business and management through small‑group, applied learning. Students complete four core modules covering key global business themes and choose one specialist elective.

Dates

  • 6–17 July 2026

Costs

  • Tuition: €1,350 (before 30 April 2026) or €1,550 (before 30 June 2026)
  • Optional housing: €220 (12 nights, shared room)
  • Additional costs: travel, insurance, local transport, meals

Humboldt University Berlin, Germany - HU Summer School

The HU Summer School provides hands‑on, English‑taught courses across a wide range of disciplines in one of Europe’s most dynamic cities. Students benefit from an international classroom experience alongside free cultural activities in Berlin.

Dates

  • Session 1: 15 June – 10 July 2026
  • Session 2: 13 July – 7 August 2026

Costs

  • Tuition: €160
  • Additional costs: housing, travel, insurance, meals, visa (if applicable)

 How to apply

  • Applications are made through a single Microsoft application formAs part of the application, you will be asked to download, complete, and upload a budget spreadsheet outlining the estimated costs of your programme.
  • The form is used to assess both programme participation and eligibility for GO LSE Short‑Term Study funding.
  • Applicants provide details of their preferred programme and explain how the opportunity aligns with their academic interests and future goals
  • Funding is awarded on a competitive basis and applicants must meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the form
  • Successful applicants must accept the conditions of funding
  • Funding is paid directly to students, who are responsible for arranging their own travel, accommodation, insurance, and visa applications (if applicable)
  • If a student withdraws from the programme or does not complete their placement, they may be required to repay the funding received
  • Successful applicants will be individually supported prior to departure for their summer school.

 

This opportunity is delivered as part of the Hermes Li Global Initiative through the Global Experience Award, providing funding support for participation in short-term global experiences.
