The Beacon Scholarship at LSE

The Beacon Scholarship at LSE is offered in partnership with The Beacon Equity Trust and provides access to the highest quality education for especially gifted children, who in the future will have the confidence and ability to become leaders in their chosen fields in their own country. 

There is one scholarship with an annual value of £20,000 for three years of full-time study. 

Eligible applicants must be from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, or Zambia with an offer of admission to any LSE undergraduate prgramme. More information on the application procress and eligibility criteria can be found on the Beacon Scholarship web pages.

How to apply

To apply for this scholarship, please apply directly to the Beacon Trust. The application deadline for the Beacon Trust is normally in February each year, for entry to LSE in the September of that year.

You will also need to submit a scholarship application to LSE. Once you have an offer of admission (conditional or unconditional) to attend LSE you should submit by email to the following:

  • LSE Undergraduate Scholarship Application form
  • One academic reference - this can be sent by you together with your scholarship application, or it can be sent to us separately by your referee
  • Supporting documents - this will vary dependent on the information you have provided; further guidance can be found in the scholarship application form

The deadline for the receipt of LSE Undergraduate Scholarship Applications for offer holders with Overseas fee status is: 2 May 2022 (extended from 28 April 2022).

All scholarship application decisions will be sent by email by the end of July 2022 (for those with Overseas fee status). Please ensure that our domain name - - is added to your safe senders list and routinely check your junk/spam folders. 

By submitting your completed LSE Undergraduate Scholarship Application, you will be considered for any LSE scholarships for which you are eligible.
