What LSE is like as a commuter student
Whether you’re already commuting or considering living at home during your studies at LSE, being a commuter student means you can still make the most of the university experience. Nearly half of UK students identify as commuter students, so you'll be sure to find a community of students who live off campus.
Take a look at blogs and vlogs from our student content creators who share their experiences of being a commuter student.

Make the most of LSE campus
If you commute into campus and don't have the time to return home in between classes, there are plenty of ways to fill your day. Discover LSE Events, study spots on campus, LSESU clubs and societies, the LSE Volunteer Centre and more so you're equipped with plenty to do during your on-campus days.
There are times where I’ve had an 11am lecture and a class ending at 7pm. Not to mention another two hours commute in total. Believe it or not, these days can be the most exciting for me. I fill the time with LSESU society events, walks around campus or meeting up with a friend...This means that on days I have no classes I still go into university for society events and finish any extra studying.
Explore London with classmates
LSE's location in Central London means it's a great base to explore the city from. Whether you're looking for an activity to get up to with friends in the early evening after class or want to do something spontaneous during a study break, there's no shortage of places to explore right on LSE's doorstep and beyond.
With my classmates, I have visited nearby bakeries and tea shops. There are a lot of niche bakeries such as Nonna Bakery...The scenery nearby is unmatched. During gaps in my timetable I have walked to St Paul’s Cathedral, the Millennium Bridge and the Royal Courts of Justice. You can walk for just 30 minutes or less after class and find yourself at any of these sites!
