Leonardo Alves Dias joins the department from WMG, University of Warwick

We are delighted to welcome our new colleague, Leonardo Alves Dias, who joins as Assistant Professor (Education Career Track) in Data Science.

Leonardo joins from WMG, University of Warwick, where he was Course Director for the MSc Applied Artificial Intelligence programme. In that role, he led the programme's overall direction and curriculum design, in addition to teaching. He designed and delivered modules including Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Big Data Analytics, developing resources and hands-on learning experiences grounded in real, practical problems for students to work through. He holds a PhD focused on parallel hardware implementations of clustering algorithms, and is keen to embed research-led teaching into his practice.

At LSE, Leonardo will be taking on the role of Programme Director for the BSc Economics with Data Science.
