Becoming Bangladesh

Speakers: Julian Francis (via Skype) worked for Oxfam-run camps for refugees in the border areas of India in 1971 during the Liberation War; Sara Hossain is a lawyer in the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, and an activist; Nayanika Mookherjee (@NakaMookherjee) is Professor in Anthropology, Durham University, and author of Spectral Wound: Sexual Violence, Public Memories and the Bangladesh War of 1971 (2015, Duke University Press; 2016 Zubaan -- Awards: Second place BBC’s Ethnography Award, and AAA’s Feminist Anthropology Book Award), and with Najmunnahar Keya has published in 2019 an award winning graphic novel: Birangona; Martin Woollacott was Correspondent for The Guardian, reporting on the Bangladesh Liberation War from Dhaka in 1971.

H. E. Saida Muna Tasneem (@BdhcLondon), Hon'ble High Commissioner of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to the United Kingdom will be present.
