Opportunities
Current
The Universities Federation for Animal Welfare (UFAW) runs the University LINKs Scheme, an international network of people, members, and supporters across universities, research institutes, and colleges worldwide. The scheme reflects the growing global interest in animal welfare science and helps connect institutions that are committed to advancing the field.
The Jeremy Coller Centre for Animal Sentience is pleased to be part of this network, with PhD student Rebecca Dreier serving as our co-link.
UFAW is currently supporting students pursuing projects in animal welfare science through two key programmes:
The UFAW Mentoring Partnership offers undergraduate and master’s level students mentoring in their research related to animal welfare science. Students will be paired with an experienced mentor to guide them in the early stages of project planning. Applications are possible three times per year and open to all students regardless of their programme of study.
Animal Welfare Student Scholarships
The Animal Welfare Student Scholarships accepts applications from undergraduate and master’s students to receive up to £3600 for research projects in animal welfare science. Applications open every September/October, closing at the end of February.
For more details, please visit the UFAW website via the links above. If you are interested in applying feel free to reach out to Rebecca Dreier at r.m.dreier@lse.ac.uk.
We do not currently offer a formal visitor programme, but we are happy to support informal visits to our office or to our team meetings where possible. If you would like to discuss an informal visit, please contact us at philosophy.sentience@lse.ac.uk.
We host and co-host a range of events, many of which are free and open to the public. Visit our Events page for details.
You are also welcome to reach out to individual staff members directly - contact details are available on our People page.
If you require formal visitor status (including LSE ID card and library access), we recommend exploring the CPNSS Visitor Programme, run by a closely linked research centre.
