About me

James Collis is a public policy economist. He serves as the Deputy Director of the LSE Growth Lab and as a Visiting Fellow at the LSE School of Public Policy. Prior to joining the LSE, James spent over 15 years undertaking economic policy analysis in government and consulting. His work includes analysis of economic growth, fiscal and environmental policies. James’ time in the UK Government Economics Service includes roles in the Cabinet Office, the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs, the Department for Culture Media and Sport, and HM Revenue and Customs. He was an economic consultant in Frontier Economics’ public policy practice. James is also an expert in policy evaluation methods. He joined the UK’s Evaluation Task Force in 2022 and recently published a review of evaluation practice in the £834 billion government major projects portfolio.

James has a master's in economics from the University of York and an undergraduate degree in economics from Royal Holloway University of London.
