We are pleased to announce the new LSE Fellow Marina Moreno who will join the Department of Philosophy, Logic and Scientific Method in September 2026.

Marina Moreno is working at the intersection of decision theory, metaethics, and the philosophy of well-being. Her research aims to take the complexities of agency and welfare seriously while using formal tools to make precise claims about them. For instance, she explores how to make decisions in the face of deep value conflicts, how well-being should be aggregated across a lifetime, and how to capture the essentially relational elements of normative theorising that go beyond the individualistic paradigm. In doing so, she draws on formal tools from, e.g., decision theory, bargaining theory, social choice theory, and axiomatic population ethics.

More about Marina Moreno.

The Department regularly appoints LSE Fellows who will contribute to the intellectual life of the Department and the School by delivering excellent teaching at both undergraduate and master’s level, with teaching on more advanced courses being research-led. The post also permits substantial time for research, and the post-holders will be expected to contribute to the research culture and intellectual life of the department in their areas of specialisation.
