This month the Jeremy Coller Centre for Animal Sentience hosted the 2026 Coller Dolittle Prize lecture by Julie Elie. The video of the talk is now available online.

Julie Elie presented her pioneering work on decoding the language of zebra finches, offering fascinating insights into how we understand animal communication, cognition and sentience.
Her presentation was followed by an engaging panel discussion exploring cutting-edge developments in the study of animal cognition, emotion and welfare, and considering what these advances mean for science, ethics and policy.

Hosted by the Jeremy Coller Foundation in partnership with Tel Aviv University, the Coller Dolittle Prize celebrates outstanding research advancing the science of animal sentience. As a multi-year challenge, the Prize recognises significant scientific research that supports the long-term goal of advancing interspecies communication.
