About
Roos Creyghton is a PhD candidate in Law at the LSE. Her doctoral project focuses on how international law developed to accommodate the institution of ‘reverse colonial reparations’, or the payment of compensation by the colonised to the coloniser. She also traces resistance to this phenomenon and investigates legal obstacles and avenues for a contemporary claim of reparations for colonialism.
Roos graduated from the LLM programme at the LSE, specialising in Public International Law. She additionally has an LLM in International Criminal Law from the University of Amsterdam and Columbia University, and an LLM in Law and Politics of International Security from the Vrije University. During her studies, she worked as a Junior Lecturer in public international law and international human rights law as well as a Law Clinic supervisor at the University of Amsterdam. She has also fulfilled the academic requirements for accession to the Dutch bar.
