Milagros (Milo) Vandemoortele has a PhD in Population Studies from LSE, an MSc from the Methodology Department at LSE and a BA in Economics and French from the University of Pennsylvania.
She is currently teaching in the Social Policy department at LSE and has previously taught in the Methodology Department.
Her research interests lie in the relationship between parents’ socioeconomic status and their children’s outcomes, particularly academic achievement. She is also interested in how government policy shapes this relationship. For her PhD she analysed cross-country longitudinal data which followed 2,000 children, in each of four countries, from one year old to 15 years old.
