About
Dr. Meghna Godya is an interdisciplinary management scholar whose research brings together public policy, finance, accounting, organisational sustainability, innovation and efficiency, with a particular focus on the non-profit and cultural sectors.
With extensive teaching and research experience in Higher Education, she has worked with undergraduate and postgraduate students across management, economics, finance, accounting, and data analytics. She has taught at a variety of institutions, including King’s College London, University College London and University of the Arts London.
Meghna completed her PhD in Management, Finance and Accountancy at King’s College London in 2022. Her doctoral thesis, entitled “The Competing Effects of State and Private Support in the Field of Cultural Production: Resource Sustainability, Dependence, and Innovation in the English Theatrical Sector”, examined how different forms of financial support affect organisational sustainability, resource dependence, innovation and artistic output within cultural organisations. Prior to her PhD, Meghna completed an MSc in International Financial Management with Distinction at Queen Mary University of London.
Alongside her academic career, Meghna holds professional sommelier qualifications, as well as being the founder and owner of In Vino Veritas, an independent wine bar in East London. Her work in the wine industry brings together her interests in entrepreneurship, culture, and hospitality, with a particular emphasis on championing lesser-known wine-producing regions, indigenous grape varieties, and smaller producers. This ethos is reflected in In Vino Veritas, which encourages exploration in wine by showcasing producers, regions and varieties that are often underrepresented on mainstream wine lists. Her experience as a small-business owner also provides a practical counterpart to her academic interests in organisational sustainability, financial decision-making and the challenges faced by independent organisations.
