Jonathan Lilliedahl is Associate Professor of Education at Linnaeus University, Sweden, and Visiting Senior Fellow in the Department of Social Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

He holds a DPhil from Örebro University. Before joining Linnaeus University, he held academic posts at Jönköping University, the University of Gothenburg, and Örebro University.

His research focuses on education policy and governance in comparative perspective, with particular emphasis on school choice mechanisms, admissions policies, and the regulation of schools with a specialism.

Lilliedahl has published widely in leading international journals, including British Journal of Sociology of Education, Journal of Curriculum Studies, Journal of Educational Administration and History, and Music Education Research. He is currently editing Critical Perspectives on Specialist Schools (Policy Press, forthcoming 2027) and is developing new work on policymaking concerning elite schooling, methodological applications of the Multiple Streams Framework, and the role of school leaders as policy actors in the enactment of governance reforms.
