About

Ines McCairley is a Research Assistant at LSE Cities and the Electoral Psychology Observatory (EPO). At LSE Cities, she contributes to the Technology, Data and City Government Innovation research studio which explores how European city governments can evolve into AI-first, data-driven public institutions. At the EPO, she is involved in CODES (Collaborative Democracy Solutions), an initiative that uses technology to help public and private bodies design electoral and consultative processes that are more accurate, transparent and engaging.

Her work sits at the intersection of technology and democracy, using quantitative methods to examine how AI and data are governed, how emerging technologies are deployed in democratic institutions, and how electoral design shapes voter behaviour. Previously, she was a Researcher at the Centre for Strategy & Evaluation Services (CSES), where she examined AI regulation and other emerging technologies, and a research assistant in LSE's Department of Government.

She holds a BSc in Politics and Data Science from LSE and is currently pursuing an MSc in Political Science (Political Behaviour) there.
