Dr. Cristina Mabel Scherrer joined LSE as an Associate Professor in Finance (Education) in 2023. She earned her PhD in Economics from Queen Mary University of London and has held academic positions at Aarhus University and University of East Anglia's Norwich Business School.
Dr. Scherrer’s research in financial econometrics and market microstructure has been published in top-tier journals including the Journal of Business & Economic Statistics, Journal of Financial Markets, and Journal of Financial Econometrics.
She has held a position at the Bank of England's Financial Stability division and a visiting research position at Duke University's Department of Economics.
Prior to her academic career, she gained substantial industry experience in M&A and strategic planning with leading Brazilian corporations.
Beyond her research and teaching, Dr. Scherrer plays an active role in the academic community as Director of Publication for the Brazilian Review of Finance and serves as an external examiner at Cambridge Judge Business School, London Business School and Queen Mary, University of London. She is a Fellow of the Advance Higher Education (FHEA) and has been recognised with awards for teaching excellence throughout her career.
