Thesis: 'Networks, Neighborhoods and Place-Based Identities Across the Urban-Rural Divide and their Effect on Political Behaviour'
In my PhD project I examine the effect of place-based identities, networks and neighbourhoods across the urban-rural divide on political behaviour in Western Europe. I aim to disentangle the material and psychological elements of the urban-rural divide and to explore how those dimensions interact in the formation of place-based political preferences, particularly regarding climate policy. In a last step, I examine how to use that knowledge to increase rural support to the green transition employing experimental data.
