About

About

Benedetta is a PhD candidate at the European Institute.

She is interested in the external action of the European Union. Specifically, her research explains how the EU achieves external action despite internal disagreement. To do so, she develops a theory of EU foreign policy coordination as a product of conflict management rather than consensus, challenging the dominant 'single voice’ debate. Her work offers insights for International Relations scholarship on collective action in heterogeneous settings.

Before joining the European Institute, Benedetta graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s from Sciences Po Paris and with Distinction in the MPhil in Politics and International Studies from the University of Cambridge, where she was supervised by Prof. Christopher Hill. She holds an MA in EU International Relations and Diplomacy from the College of Europe, for which she received the prize of the Italian Dipartimento per gli Affari Europei della Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri for her performance in the programme. She was designated as the most promising (jury’s choice) Italian student in Humanities and Social Sciences by the Nova 111 Students List. She has worked as a consultant at the OECD.

Benedetta’s research is funded by an ERSC scholarship.
