Bio
Alexandra Scherf is an assistant professor in the Accounting Department. She teaches AC 412: Accountability, Organisations and Risk Management. Dr. Scherf’s research focuses on corporate misconduct, fraud, and enforcement regimes. Specifically, she examines the forces that shape the regulation and enforcement of financial misconduct. She is particularly interested in factors that make oversight systems effective in identifying and addressing violations. Her work has been published in The Accounting Review, the Journal of Accounting Research, and the Journal of Financial Reporting.
Dr. Scherf earned a PhD in Business Administration (Accounting and Management) from Harvard Business School. She holds an MSc in Accountancy from Bentley University, an MPhil in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge, and a bachelor’s degree from Harvard College. Prior to academia, she worked as an auditor for PwC and an investment banking intern for J.P. Morgan.
