How AI is shaping elections

There has been considerable focus on the impact of AI on election results, but surprisingly little research on how people are using AI to engage with politics. Sayeh Yousefi, Ben Tappin and Jens Koed Madsen, in a survey of more than 2,000 UK adults, examined whether people use AI to access political information, fact-check claims and inform their voting decisions. They found evidence of increasing use of AI to source political information, and discuss these findings, as well as the risks and benefits associated with them, in an article for the LSE British Politics blog.
