Kurdish Studies Conference

The Middle East Centre warmly invites the submission of papers for the inaugural Kurdish Studies Conference at the London School of Economics and Political Science on 24-25 April 2023.

The conference welcomes both paper and panel submissions with social sciences disciplinary approaches to any aspect of Kurdish studies. These might include but are not limited to: history; political movements; social movements; gender; political representation; governance; displacement; anthropology; nationalism; ethnography, ecology, political economy; international relations; diaspora; security; and religion. The conference seeks to promote, share and celebrate recent research across this growing field and encourage connections between scholars, students, professionals and members of the public.

Conference fees for speakers and delegates will be subsidised and will be limited to catering costs. A travel fund will be available for applications from those whose participation would be helped by a financial contribution. The travel fund is only available for those whose papers are selected for presentation.

Conference registration will open in January 2023.

Submission Guidelines:

Please send your paper or panel title, an abstract (maximum 500 words) and a short biography to Nadine Almanasfi, MEC Events Coordinator: n.almanasfi@lse.ac.uk.

If you would like to submit an application for the travel fund, you should include this with your submission. Please use the conference title as the subject line of the email.

The deadline for paper and panel submissions as well as travel fund applications is 16 December 2022.

Notification of acceptances and travel fund awards will be made by 13 January 2023.
