The Department's professional services team is available throughout Welcome to help guide and support you, and to answer any questions you may have before your programme begins.

Our Departmental Senior Student Adviser, Sarah McManus is your dedicated point of contact within your department, offering tailored support throughout your time at LSE. Working alongside your Academic Mentor and other departmental staff, she can help you navigate the wide range of advice and wellbeing services available, ensuring you feel supported both academically and personally. Visit the Student Services Centre (SSC) to access a range of services and advice, including; enrolment, immigration and visas, repeat teaching, deferrals, course selection, exams, appeals, intercollegiate enrolment, results and graduation. The SSC is available as your first point of contact for advice on a wide range of general enquiries about being a student at LSE. Find out more here.
The Student Wellbeing Service (SWS) brings together two specialist student facing services; the Disability and Wellbeing Service (DWS) and the Student Counselling Service (SCS), supported by the Wellbeing Team. SWS also facilitates the Peer Supporter Scheme. SWS aims to provide you with a single integrated source of help and assistance.
- The Student Counselling Service (SCS) provides a professional, free and confidential service to help you with any personal problems that you may be experiencing. You can speak to a qualified and experienced counsellor about academic stresses, as well as personal and emotional difficulties.Visit lse.ac.uk/counselling to book a Wellbeing appointment to discuss whether counselling is the best option for you, and to explore further options available to you. SCS also organises groups and workshops to support students experiencing stress, anxiety or other issues.
- The Disability and Wellbeing Service (DWS) are the first point of contact for students with disabilities, long term medical and mental health conditions, and Specific Learning Difficulties such as dyslexia. DWS can help you to create My Adjustments which is a way of putting in place agreed “reasonable adjustments” to support your studies. Visit lse.ac.uk/disability to find out more.
- Peer Supporters give you the opportunity to talk to fellow students about anything that is worrying you. Peer Supporters are trained to offer confidential emotional support,help and reassurance. LSE Careers will provide a range of careers and professional development services and events online and through one-to-one appointments, coordinated by our dedicated Departmental Careers Consultant, Jai Shah.

The LSE experience would not be complete without a host of extra curricular events and activities for students to engage in.
There are various activities and initiatives students can benefit from, including LSE Events, the LSE Volunteer Centre, LSE Generate, LSE LIFE and the LSE Faith Centre.
In addition, the LSE Students’ Union (LSESU) and its numerous societies will continue to run activities and events throughout the year, both online and in person.
Students who have questions about immigration and visas should refer as soon as possible to the guidance from Visa Advice. Visa Advice is the only team at LSE trained and regulated to give immigration and visa advice to students.
Under exceptional circumstances, it may be possible to transfer from one degree programme to another within the Department. This will only be possible with permission from the programme director of the degree programme you are transferring from and to.
