REF 2021

The Department of Management's mission is to inspire superior management practices by fostering a comprehensive understanding of individuals, teams, organisations, and markets, along with the psychological, social, political, and technological contexts that influence them. By studying with us, you'll gain access to a world-leading centre for education and research, uniquely positioned within a world-class social science institution at the heart of a truly global city.

We have limited opportunities for researchers at a doctoral level to join our Visiting Research Student Programme. Applications can be considered on a rolling basis, but we will make decisions once a year in January, normally for visits starting that Summer or Autumn term.

The programme is open to scholars who are studying digital innovation from the fields of information systems and innovation and adjacent fields, for a minimum stay of 7 weeks up to one year. Visiting Students cannot register for more than 1 year.

As a visiting researcher, you will be welcomed into our community of research students within the department, provided a workspace, access to office facilities and invitations to our vibrant calendar of research seminars, activities and events.

How to apply:

Visiting researcher applications are selected by a two-stage process

Step 1:

Send us your name, contact email, research proposal (2000-word limit) outlining a project you would like to pursue in the ISI Faculty Group, a recommendation letter from your PhD advisor, your CV and a cover letter. In your cover letter email please include Faculty members you think your interests align with, and your reasons for wanting to study here. Please let us know if you have already approached them and they have expressed an interest in supporting your visit.

Please submit the information and attachments using this form.

By: 4 January 2027

If you have questions, please contact dom.phd.enquiries@lse.ac.uk. Please write ‘January 2027 Visiting Student Application’ and your name as the Subject.

Proposals will be shortlisted and reviewed by a selection panel from the ISI Faculty Group.

Step 2:

If successful, you will receive an email inviting you to apply on the LSE Application system. Here you will be asked to provide full details of your academic background and two academic references. If approved, you will be sent a formal offer from our Graduate Admissions Team. You can then use this to approach funding institutions and start planning your visit.

Please send us the completed form by 4 January 2027. If you are invited to submit an application, you can expect to hear in the final week of January. Offer decisions will be made by the end of February.
