Dr Will Venters
We are delighted to share that Dr Will Venters, Associate Professor of Digital Innovation and Information Systems, has been appointed as an Amazon Scholar within Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) Executive in Residence team to better understand the implications of agentic artificial intelligence (AI) on large organisations.
“I am honoured to be appointed as an Amazon Scholar”, Dr Venters said. “I will be working with AWS’ Executives in Residence team, which is made up of 15 former senior leaders from large organisations who advise fortune 500 executives on technology adaption, innovation and culture change.”
Agentic AI is an advanced form of AI that focuses on autonomous decision-making and action, with the ability to independently set goals, plan, and execute tasks with minimal human intervention. While agentic AI adoption is emerging in the UK, key challenges around governance, integration, and regulatory compliance remain.
This appointment will allow Dr Venters to uncover insights and provide rigorous academic guidance to leading organisations in their adoption of this technology by strengthening links between AWS and LSE.
“It’s an amazing opportunity to couple my long-term academic research on interfacing, socio-technical, systems, and AI systems and organisations,” he continued. “It should create productive synergies for the LSE Information Systems Group, the global Information Systems academic community, and of course, for AWS' customers.”
Dr Venters, Programme Director of LSE ‘s MSc Management of Information Systems and Digital Innovation, will undertake the role part-time alongside his position at LSE.
The LSE Department of Management recently hosted AWS Executive in Residence, Phil Le-Brun, for a public event, chaired by Dr Venters, to discuss how to build adaptive organisations for the AI age. The event can be viewed on the department’s YouTube Channel.
