Podcast: How to make equality a reality through change and innovation Podcast: How to make equality a reality through change and innovation

Hear from an inspiring panel of speakers as they discuss how balance, diversity and equality has brought improvements to their professional and personal lives.

We live in a time where there is an expectation of equality in many aspects of our lives. The UK’s Equality Act of 2010 makes it illegal for discrimination based upon: age, race, gender identification, sexual orientation, religion, or disability. Despite this, it is still important that each of us takes active steps to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, and work together to create a world where diversity and inclusion may thrive.

To mark International Women’s Day, we welcomed a panel of speakers from a diverse range of personal and professional backgrounds to share their experiences of how equality has improved their lives and those around them. Discover the inspiring personal journeys of our panel members and gain practical insights on how you can help create an equal world and pursue equal autonomy for yourself.

For this event, we are partnered with Her Equality Rights and Autonomy (HERA), a charity which works with women survivors of trafficking, conflict, and other forms of violence and young women vulnerable to trafficking and exploitation, to pursue their aspirations and ambitions for a better life.

We welcomed the following speakers to LSE:

  • Stephanie Cutler, Founder of Making Lemonade.
  • Gary Heffernan, Entrepreneur and former Senior Managing Director for Communications, Media and Technology at Accenture.
  • Abadesi Osunsade, Head of Maker Outreach at Product Hunt.
  • Chair: Sarah Ashwin, Professor of Comparative Employment Relations and Deputy Head of LSE's Department of Management.
