Last month, on Wednesday 25 March, the iSChannel Journal celebrated its 20th anniversary with a conference that brought together students, faculty members, industry professionals and past contributors.

The iSChannel is an annual journal on the social study of information systems which is produced, edited and double-blind reviewed by the students of the Information Systems and Innovation programmes, with advice from faculty.

Stefan Weiß, MSc Management of Information Systems and Digital Innovation student organiser, and iSChannel Managing Editor, said “It was great fun organising the event and getting to know so many inspiring alumni from up to 20 years back. The talks and panel offered a rich range of perspectives, from academic research to startup experience."

The event celebrated the journal’s 20-year history and ongoing contributions to the social study of information systems.

Reflecting on the journal’s history, Dr Will Venters, Associate Professor of Digital Innovation and Information Systems, and iSChannel Faculty Editor, said: “Over the past 20 years, the iSChannel has charted the phenomenal changes in information technology with the balanced perspectives and sound judgement expected of LSE’s top students.”

“We have published numerous articles which deeply analysed contemporary phenomenon as they have evolved and influenced the world. I look forward to the next 20 years where, I am sure, digital systems will continue to shape our world, and LSE students will continue to understand and lead that change in a responsible and thoughtful way.”

The agenda bought together a rich mix of academic and practitioner perspectives, exploring current debates in the field of information systems.
