The Department of Management is delighted to share that Caleb Phillips, PhD candidate in Organisational Behaviour, has been selected as the 2025-26 Lim Kim San Fellow at Singapore Management University (SMU).

With the fellowship, Caleb will travel to Singapore for 3 weeks in the winter of 2025-26 to conduct research, collaborate with his faculty hosts, and experience the daily life of the SMU Organisational Behaviour and Human Resources Group.

Reacting to being selected, Caleb said, “I’m incredibly grateful to receive the Lim Kim San Fellowship, which offers valuable opportunities for collaboration as well as to further develop my research on leadership and wellbeing. SMU is home to a vibrant and globally engaged research community whose work resonates with my own.”

Caleb continued, “During the fellowship, I’ll explore when and why leaders look out for employee wellbeing, specifically looking at different forms of wellbeing data and information leaders interact with. I’ll be collaborating with faculty whose work closely aligns with mine—Professors Burak Oc and Devasheesh Bhave. Their research on leadership, workplace technology, and wellbeing has long inspired me, and I am eager to contribute to and extend those conversations.”

As a fellow, Caleb will receive full financial support to cover airfare, accommodation and daily living expenses, as well as research funding.

Looking ahead to the experience, Caleb said, “Singapore offers a rich and diverse academic environment, and I’m looking forward to immersing myself in SMU’s research community. I’m excited to connect with faculty and PhD students, attend seminars, and build relationships that span disciplines and cultures. Having existing collaborations in Singapore, I value the opportunity to deepen those ties and gain new perspectives that will enrich my research.”

Beyond academia, I’m eager to experience Singapore’s dynamic culture, run around the city, and, of course, eat lots of incredible food!”
