ORCID at LSE

Connecting research and researchers
What is ORCID?
ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) provides a persistent identifier that distinguishes you from other researchers. An ORCID iD allows you to create a record containing all your research information such as publications, grants and affiliations.
Why create and use an ORCID iD?
There are many benefits to creating and maintaining an ORCID iD:
- It is permanently linked to you, regardless of where you are working or studying.
- Your ORCID profile is managed by you so you can ensure all your grants, publications and outputs are correctly attributed to you and it will act as a public CV.
- You control item-level privacy settings, including what information is displayed publicly, what is shared only with trusted partners, and who those trusted partners are.
- An ORCID iD is essential for many grant applications and publisher systems.
Getting the most out of your ORCID iD using Pure
By connecting your ORCID iD to Pure, LSE’s Current Research Information System, and authorising the connection you enable the School to update your ORCID profile with research outputs, other personal identifiers (Scopus ID, Researcher ID, Digital Author ID) and details of your institutional affiliation. The connection will also allow the School to draw content directly from your ORCID profile into Pure (which populates LSE Research Online). You can do this following the instructions in our videoor follow the steps in the section below.
