Dr Margot Salomon addresses the UN Intergovernmental Working Group on the Right to Development
At the invitation of the Chair-Rapporteur of the United Nations Intergovernmental Working Group on the Right to Development, Ambassador Zamir Akram, Margot Salomon will address the 27th session of the Working Group. She has been invited to speak on ‘The right to development and the duty to cooperate’ and will use the opportunity to centre normative developments in emergent, 4th world, insurgent law-shaping that aspires to world-making. Margot will tie her current research on this turn in international human rights law to the right to development’s demand of permanent sovereignty over natural resources, setting out how communal life, decommodified social relations, and true social and solidarity economies of culture are central to the contemporary reconstitution of these longstanding rights of peoples.
