Professor Damian Chalmers was interviewed on LBC radio (23 September) to give his reaction to Theresa May’s recent speech on Brexit in Florence. He noted that whilst the headlines would be about the offer to pay into the EU Budget until 2019, the speech was more significant for what it said about future trading relationships. The Prime Minister indicated that the trading relationship would be based on regulatory alignment between UK and EU laws. This is the Swiss model in all but name.
