Studying abroad on BSc Language, Culture and Society

You’ll spend your third year studying abroad at a partner institution in one of five countries, depending on your chosen language.

Our partner institutions are Universidad de Valladolid, Freie Universität Berlin, Liden & Denz Intercultural Institute of Languages/Tallinn University, Sciences Po and Fudan University.

Where the exchange/study abroad year is a compulsory part of a Language Centre BSc the fee payable is given in the table below and is calculated based on the start year of the programme. For example, Overseas students who started their Language Centre BSc in 2025/26 will pay £4,125 for the year they are on exchange (the third year of the programme in 2027/28). This fee is approximately 15% of the Overseas programme fee in a standard, non-placement year.

* For Home undergraduates starting in 2026/27, the provisional fee for the abroad year is £1,430; this amount may increase in line with the Home undergraduate fee which will be announced by the OfS in spring 2026.
