Studying abroad on BSc International Relations and Chinese
You will study abroad at Fudan University, Shanghai, China.
During your time in China, you’ll complete a bespoke course at the university, with Mandarin language classes and IR lectures. You’ll pay a reduced tuition fee to LSE, which will cover your tuition fees at Fudan University.
Study at Fudan University
If you start the programme as a beginner and take LN104 Mandarin Language and Society Level 1 (Beginner), you will complete an 8 week intensive tailor-made language programme at Fudan University, China between Years 1 and 2.
The Summer programme is optional if you start the programme at a higher level.
Where the exchange/study abroad year is a compulsory part of a Language Centre BSc the fee payable is given in the table below and is calculated based on the start year of the programme. For example, Overseas students who started their Language Centre BSc in 2025/26 will pay £4,125 for the year they are on exchange (the third year of the programme in 2027/28). This fee is approximately 15% of the Overseas programme fee in a standard, non-placement year.
