We are holding a week of Welcome events to help you meet your peers and get settled into the IR community.

If you're not sure where rooms are, you can use the Student Hub app campus map to find them or Maps and Information for LSE Buildings.

You will be able to see your personalised Welcome events calendar from early September in the Student Hub.

Welcome events for undergraduate students

 

 

Monday 18 September

  • 10.00-11.00am in the Peacock Theatre
    Department of International Relations Welcome Address
    Join a panel of IR faculty who will be discussing the theme of 'Current Issues Facing International Relations'. Immerse yourself in the IR community to kick-start the Welcome experience.
  • 3.00-4.00pm in Room CLM.3.02
    BSc IR induction - this mandatory session is an opportunity to talk to the Departmental Tutor, teaching and PSS staff and ask questions.  

Tuesday 19 September

  • 3.00-4.30pm in Room SAL Kinta Alley
    BSc IR reception 
    - this mandatory session is an opportunity to talk to the Departmental Tutor, teaching and PSS staff and ask questions, and to meet your peers over some light refreshment.  

Wednesday 20 September

  • 10.00-11.00am in Room CKK.2.06
    General Course and GO LSE induction
     - this mandatory session is an opportunity to talk to the Departmental Tutor and a member of the PSS staff, and ask questions.

Friday 22 September

  • 3.00-6.00pm: At this optional treasure hunt around London, you join forces with the people on your programme to find the hidden treasure. We'll circulate enrolment and joining details via email. There will be a prize for the winning team!

Monday 25 September

  • 5.00pm to 7.30pm Marquee Movie Night - 28 Days Later
    Come along to a movie screening of 28 Days Later in the Plaza Marquee hosted by the Department of International Relations!
    Popcorn will be provided.
    Open to all IR students, information on how to sign up will be sent to you soon.

Wednesday 27 September

  • 1.30-2.30pm in the Shaw Library (Old Building)
    IR Undergraduate Community Insights Session
     
    Join us for this session on how to get involved in the IR Community and the wider School and where to seek out support in order to make the most of your time at LSE.
  • The IR Undergraduate Party! – join new and returning undergraduate students in the evening at a bar off-campus for a celebratory party for all IR undergraduate students! Enrolment details will be circulated via email. 

Thursday 28 September

  • 2.00-5.00pm at Sheffield Street in Room G02 (UG)
    IR Undergraduate Common Room drop-in 

    Come and see your brand new IR Common Room at Sheffield Street G02 (UG). Drop-in any time between 2.00pm-5.00pm on Thursday 28 September to see the space and have some snacks with your fellow IR students. We'll have a book exchange, suggestion box for the common rooms, and more!

     - this mandatory session is a chance to meet the Programme Director and key programme figures as well as an opportunity to meet your peers over some light refreshment.

    Induction for students on LSE-Sciences Po Double Degree in Affaires Internationales - this mandatory session is an introduction from the Programme Director and a chance to ask questions and find out how to make the best of your time at LSE.

    Graduate Course Selection Drop-in office hours with PSS staff - come and ask your questions to our Programmes Team.

  • Meeting with your Academic Mentor. These sessions will take place on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday of Welcome. Full details of these sessions will be circulated via email.

Monday 18 September

  • 12.00-2.00pm in the IR Department kitchen, CBG.9.16
    Informal lunch for incoming IR PhD students with the PhD team, followed by an in-person tour of the Department.

Tuesday 19 September

  • 10.30am-12.30pm in Room SAL.LG.03
    Induction and welcome meeting for new PhD students 
    - this is the programme induction and will feature speakers from key support services for doctoral students followed by a Q&A session. 
  • 12.30-2.00pm in the IR Department kitchen, CBG.9.16
    Informal pizza lunch
    for all current IR PhD students with the PhD team.
  • 2.30-4.30pm in Room SAL.LG.04
    Orientation welcome back meeting for returning PhD students 
    – this is the programme induction and will feature speakers from key support services for doctoral students followed by a Q&A session.
