Welcome events for undergraduate students

 

 

Monday 21 September

 

  • Department Welcome a live online event introducing you to key member of IR faculty, and helping you to get to know what the Department of International Relations is all about.
  • Meet the rest of the people on your course online sessions are being held throughout the day for you to meet your course mates.

Tuesday 22 September

  • Programme inductions followed by live interactive Q&As will be held online with the programme directors and co-ordinators to help answer any questions you may have.
  • Meet your peer study group online, a small group of your programme peers who you be working with on a project over the course of the week.

Wednesday 23 September

  • At this optional treasure hunt around London, you join forces with the people on your programme to find the hidden treasure.
  • 6pm Public Lecture: The World, a brief introduction – join Dr Richard Haass, President of the Council on Foreign Relations, for an online discussion about the current state of the world. More info here.

Thursday 24 September

  • Big IR Quiz! – Join our fiendish online quiz with multiple rounds to show off your knowledge of IR, LSE, London etc and win prizes!

Friday 25 September

  • Community Insights – join an online panel with second and third year Student Academic Mentors to help you get some peer advice on starting in the department.

Monday 21 September

  • Department Welcome a live online event introducing you to key member of IR faculty, and helping you to get to know what the Department of International Relations is all about. This session will also be recorded.
  • Meet the rest of the people on your course online sessions are being held throughout the day for you to meet your course mates.

Tuesday 22 September

  • Find out all about graduate course choice in this online session followed by a Q&A.

Wednesday 23 September

  • Meet your academic mentor to discuss your course choices, either today or before Tuesday 29 September.

  • 12.30-2.00pm PhD Student Welcome Presentation - an online session for all PhD students focussing on student experience and run by the PhD Academy. More info here.
  • Department Informal Gathering - this is an online session giving you an opportunity to meet both new and current students on our MPhil/PhD programme.
  • 6pm Public Lecture: The World, a brief introduction – join Dr Richard Haass, President of the Council on Foreign Relations, for an online discussion about the current state of the world. More info here.

Thursday 24 September

  • PhD Student Community Event - this meeting and Q&A session will be held with Research Cluster Convenors, SRSLC representatives, Millennium Journal and the IR Colloquium. 
  • Welcome meeting – PhD orientation for new students – this is the programme induction and will feature the PhD Team, Library staff with expertise in supporting research students, LSE Careers and the Methodology Department, followed by a Q&A session.
  • Virtual Drop-in Session – this is an opportunity for new students to ask the PhD Team questions one-to-one.

Friday 25 September

  • Welcome Meeting – PhD orientation for returning students – this will feature the PhD Team, Library staff with expertise in supporting research students, LSE Careers and the Methodology Department, followed by a Q&A session.
