About me

Dr Eyüp Ersoy holds a PhD from Bilkent University, was a fellow at the Centre for Foreign Policy and Peace Research (CFPPR), and studied Arabic at the University of Damascus. Dr Ersoy is also a visiting lecturer in the Department of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Birmingham, and a former visiting research fellow in the Institute of Middle Eastern Studies at King’s College London.

His primary area of research is Middle Eastern geopolitics, focusing on the relational dynamics between state actors and violent non-state actors. His publications have appeared in peer-reviewed journals, such as, Turkish Studies, Middle East Policy, and Third World Quarterly. Dr Ersoy is currently working on his book project on Turkey and the Middle East: The Quest for Influence before the Arab Spring.
