International network for qualitative and mixed-methods research at scale

We bring together large-scale qualitative and mixed-methods studies from across countries to share expertise, foster methodological alignment, and build the foundations for meaningful cross-national insight.

The International Network for Qualitative and Mixed-Methods Research at Scale was initiated in 2022 and is now established as a formal network, meeting virtually every three months. The network provides a collaborative space for researchers to learn from one another’s approaches and experiences. Inspired in part by the success of the American Voices Project, the network aims not only to connect existing studies but also, over the longer term, to support greater harmonisation of methods—creating new possibilities for meaningful cross-national comparison.

The aims of the International Network are:

  • to bring together national large-scale qualitative and mixed-methods studies to share resources, exchange best practice, and strengthen methodological innovation.
  • to enhance the value, visibility, and impact of major public investments in large-scale social research through sustained international collaboration.
  • to promote cumulative learning, shared resource development, and capacity building across the international research community.
  • to advance innovation in qualitative research at scale and lay the foundation for robust comparative research addressing pressing social challenges.
