Three ID Colleagues Shortlisted for LSE Impact Prize
Three colleagues from the Department of International Development have been shortlisted for the inaugural LSE Impact Prize, a School-wide award recognising outstanding research engagement, societal impact, and impact culture. Winners will be announced at a special event on 24 June, with most categories carrying a £7,500 prize for future impact activities.
Professor Shirin Madon, Professor of Information and Communication Technologies and Socioeconomic Development, has been shortlisted for Outstanding Impact Culture, recognising her work fostering a positive, inclusive and ethical research environment.
Dr Stephanie Levy, Professor in Practice, has been shortlisted for Outstanding Individual Impact, recognising excellence in impact achieved through her own research. Stephanie is a development economist with over 20 years’ experience in social protection and poverty‑reduction policy across Africa and Asia. Her research examines the general equilibrium effects of social protection, economic inclusion, and livelihood programmes, including cash transfers and graduation interventions.
Claudia Rodríguez-Castellanos, PhD Candidate, has been shortlisted for Outstanding PhD Impact, recognising the impact of her research completed during her PhD. Her research explores informal institutions in violent contexts in areas affected by the armed conflict in Colombia.
Head of Department Professor Tim Forsyth said the nominations reflect the dedication and integrity colleagues bring to their work, and that they capture the very best of what the department strives for, adding that he is incredibly proud of all three for this well-deserved recognition.
Congratulations to Shirin, Stephanie and Claudia, and good luck at the awards on 24 June.
