Strengthening Interdisciplinary Partnership in Gender and Development Teaching
The Department of International Development is delighted to announce an exciting new teaching partnership with the Department of Gender Studies, launching in the 2026/27 academic year.
This collaboration marks an important step in bridging the fields of gender studies and international development, creating new opportunities for students to engage with critical, cross-disciplinary perspectives on global challenges.
As part of this initiative, a cohort of International Development students will have the opportunity to take GI420: Feminist Perspectives on Transnational Development, a core course on the MSc Gender, Development and Globalisation programme, led by Dr Asiya Islam, with contributions from faculty in International Development.
In turn, students on the MSc Gender, Development and Globalisation programme will gain access to selected International Development courses, including DV407: Poverty led by Dr Sohini Kar and DV457: Sexual and Reproductive Health Programmes: Design, Implementation and Evaluation led by Professor Ernestina Coast, further strengthening the exchange of ideas and approaches across the two departments.
This reciprocal arrangement reflects a shared commitment to deepening collaboration and enriching the student experience through interdisciplinary teaching. By bringing together expertise from both departments, the partnership opens up space for more integrated, inclusive, and innovative approaches to understanding development in a global context.
You can view the full list of programmes on offer in the Department of International Development on our website. A reminder that applicants who have secured an offer by 23 April 2026 are also eligible to apply for the LSE Graduate Support Scheme.
