The Foreign Office, Commerce, and British Foreign Policy

The Foreign Office, Commerce, and British Foreign Policy

How has the Foreign Office supported British commerce? And how has commerce shaped British foreign policy?

At this book launch, historians discussed the changing attitudes of British diplomats to trade promotion during the Cold War, decolonisation, and the UK's relative economic decline.

Case studies from across the world illustrated how the Foreign Office supported UK firms, created markets, and continued Britain's ceaseless quest for trade.
